Getting Involved

There are many ways in which you can get involved.

MEMBERSHIP

By becoming a member you can have a say in the Friends’ activities and priorities. Importantly, your membership also helps to raise the profile of the park and helps us with our running costs. For this we thank you.

But, apart from being encouraged to attend the AGM, you are under no obligation to give any of your time.

However, we’d be grateful if you could be an informal ambassador and spread the word about the park and its importance to the local area, and encourage others you know to support the friends.

GARDENING

If you like gardening (or want to try your hand at it) then we have a gardening group which meets twice a month to carry out a whole range of tasks from bed maintenance and tidying of walls and paths, to planting/developing flower beds and the park’s wildflower meadow.

HELPING US IN OTHER WAYS

Of course, if you have the time and inclination, there are other great ways you could help us:

  • Do you use Social Media? Could you add content to our timelines on Instagram, X and facebook?
  • Are you able to help with our annual house-to-house mail drops (typically done in March)?
  • Do you have any experience in fund-raising (for unrestricted or project-based funds or both)?
  • Could you help with our litter picking rota?
  • Do you have any academic or professional expertise we could call on? Perhaps plant, bird/bat or invertebrate knowledge. Or maybe skills in web site design/implementation. Or even a legal or accounting background.
  • Would you be interested in joining our small friendly committee? At present we have six serving members and we only meet three times a year, leading to an AGM in May. Not a huge commitment but essential to our constitution, and we are always keen to have greater representation.
