RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood Award

We’re delighted to win Level 5 – Outstanding in the RHS and South West in Bloom ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ award for the third year running at Tuesday’s awards ceremony held at Bath City Farm. The award recognises collective effort across the whole park and it is only fitting therefore that we acknowledge the dominant contribution made by the Council’s Parks team.

Well done to all the other winners and participants from across the Bath area. It was wonderful to be among such an inspiring collection of community groups doing truly amazing things for people and nature.

In the accompanying 300-word citation for our award, this was the final paragraph:

“Friends of Hedgemead Park demonstrate how an historic urban park can continue to evolve without losing its character. Strong volunteer participation, well-maintained horticultural features, interpretation of the park’s trees and increasingly successful biodiversity areas combine to create a welcoming and interesting green space. The record display of pyramidal orchids was a particular highlight and something the group should be extremely proud of.”
