July is proving to be quite the month for our gardening efforts. Exactly a year after the last such gathering, our gardening team was joined again by the wonderful folk from Bath in Bloom and their sponsors, Mogers Drewett, for a 2-hour blitz on Hedgemead Park’s rampant weeds.
Our combined forces numbered 18 people, well over three times the size of our regular gardening team. We split up into three separate teams fanning out to work in different areas of the park. Our focus was on clearing the worst of the summer weed growth from various paths, walls and beds. It was hard work but the effort really does show. The park looks so much tidier now – take a look at the before and after pictures below showing one of the areas tackled.
Our huge thanks to Bath in Bloom for their continued and enthusiastic support of our work. And to the delightful young volunteers from Mogers Drewett, who form part of the firm’s Green Team, an initiative to reduce operational emissions to net zero and to support local community groups like ours with practical help.
