RHS ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ Award 2024
It’s awards season, folks, and Hedgemead Park has only gone and done it again!
The Royal Horticultural Society and Britain in Bloom together promote a scheme called ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’, which aims to encourage community groups to make their local areas safer, cleaner, greener and all-round better places to live in and enjoy.
Although non-competitive, every entrant is assessed against three criteria: community participation, environmental responsibility and gardening achievement. A certificate of achievement is awarded along with the judges’ feedback and suggestions on how to develop and further improve.
As this was our first year of entering the IYN scheme, the Friends didn’t know what to expect. But at last week’s awards ceremony at Bath City Farm, we were astonished and delighted to receive a certificate showing Level 5 – Outstanding, the highest possible achievement level!
Yet again, I need to thank our brilliant and devoted volunteers, and to all our loyal members for their collective support, both tangible and intangible. Without your engagement none of this would be possible. Well done all!
