The Friends are delighted to report that we were recently awarded a grant for much needed gardening infrastructure to support our gardening activities.
Awarded by Quartet Community Foundation from the Wessex Water Environment Fund, the funding will enable us to bring about some long term environmental and community benefits for Hedgemead Park. We also received some top-up funding from B&NES Council to help us fully realise our vision.
The infrastructure consists of 1) a rainwater collection system giving us over 400 litres of water for horticultural purposes, 2) a dual-bin composter with a capacity of 2,400 litres, and 3) a large lockable tool chest to store all our gardening paraphernalia.
All three items have been fully installed over the past few weeks and are now starting to yield benefits for our gardeners and the wider community that we serve.
We are very grateful to Quartet and the Wessex Water Foundation, and to B&NES Council, for their collective generosity.
