Civic Reception

On Thursday 6th February 2020, the Friends of Hedgemead Park (HPF) attended a Civic Reception hosted by the Mayor of Bath, Councillor Gerry Curran. Held in the Mayor’s Parlour at the Guildhall, Bath, the event was in recognition of the work of the Friends as a community group.

It was a particularly special moment for the Friends and their supporters to be so honoured given that the group has been in existence for less than 12 months.

The Mayor gave a short welcoming address, making reference to his enjoyable presence at the Friends’ Summer Fete in July 2019 in celebration of the 130th anniversary of Hedgemead Park’s opening.

HPF Chair, Graham Groom, then replied on behalf of those present with his thanks to the Mayor and spoke briefly about the importance of parks and open spaces in an urban context. He also thanked the Council’s Parks Team for all their work in making Hedgemead Park such a delightful place to visit.
